Abstract:

To dispose a waterproof protective overcoat on an image formed element.

The photographic element has a base, at least one silver halide emulsion layer lapped on one face of the base and a waterproof protective overcoat including a processing solution permeable overcoat with at least 0.54 g/m2 coating weight of a coating composition on the silver halide emulsion layer. The coating composition contains (i) water-dispersible latex particles containing an epoxy material having at least 1.5 epoxy group per one molecule on average and a polymer having an acid value of 30-250 and carrying acid groups neutralized with a base to 50-95% neutralization degree and having 0.01-0.5 μm average particle diameter and >20°C Tg (glass transition temperature), (ii) a water-soluble hydrophilic polymer and (iii) an associated thickener modified to hydrophobic property.
