To provide a photosensitive planographic printing plate giving satisfactory printing resistance even under exposure conditions with small irradiation energy per unit area, having productively and suitable for pattern formation with laser light.

The photosensitive planographic printing plate has a photosensitive layer containing a polyvinyl alcohol resin binder modified with an acetal skeleton having an alicyclic structure on the base. Preferably the polyvinyl alcohol resin binder further has an acid group and preferably the photosensitive layer further contains a photo- or thermopolymerization initiator and a compound having an addition polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated bond.
