PURPOSE: To prevent a high-concentration pigment dispersion from suffering a viscosity increase or a decrease in gloss, tinting power, etc., by incorporating a specific compound into a monoazo lake pigment comprising β- hydroxynaphthoic acid and an aromatic amine containing a water-soluble group.
CONSTITUTION: 100 pts.wt. monoazo lake pigment (e.g. Brilliant Carmine 6B) which comprises β-hydroxynaphthoic acid or β-naphthol as a mojor coupler component and an aromatic amine containing a water-soluble group (e.g. p- toluidine-m-sulfonic acid) as a diazo component is mixed with 0.3-20 pts.wt. compound represented by the formula (wherein n is 0 to 7 and the substituent X is a halogen, a 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, carboxy, nitro, amino, or hydroxy) to produce a pigment composition. This composition is dispersed into a vehicle which is an organic solvent solution of a fat, thereby to produce a pigment dispersion.
