Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a magnetic head guard material almost free from pores without carrying out hot isostatic pressing and to reduce the cost of production.

CONSTITUTION: When powdery starting materials for CaO-TiO2 ceramics are mixed and subjected to temporary firing, pulverization and concluding firing to produce a magnetic head guard material, the temporary firing temp. is regulated to 1,000-1,200°C. The degree of reaction of the starting materials after the temporary firing may be regulated to 60-90%. The average particle diameter of the temporarily fired starting materials may be reduced to 0.5-0.8μm by the pulverization.
