Title:
PRODUCTION OF POLYETHYLENE NAPHTHALATE RESIN COMPOSITION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3629931
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the crystallization temp. of a polyethylene naphthalate resin to thereby improve the crystallization rate without decreasing the clarity by bringing a particulate polyethylene naphthalate resin under fluidizing conditions into contact with a member comprising a crystalline thermoplastic resin of a different nature to incorporate a minute amt. of the latter resin into the former resin and melt kneading the former resin.
SOLUTION: For example, in the route for transporting a particulate polyethylene naphthalate resin of which at least 50 equivalent % of all the structural units are ethylene naphthalate units, a rod-like or net-like member comprising a crystalline thermoplastic resin such as a poly-α-olefin resin (i.e., a homo- or copolymer of an α-olefin such as ethylene or propylene) or a polyamide resin (e.g. nylon) is installed or a part of the route is made of the crystalline thermoplastic resin. Thus, the polyethylene naphthalate resin is brought into contact with the crystalline thermoplastic resin for about 0.01-1 sec, causing the latter resin in an amt. of 0.1-100 ppb to be incorporated into the former resin. Pref., the crystallization temp. in temp. rise of a molded article obtd. from the compsn. is 150-190°C.
