To provide a projector for which in accordance with date and time set on a computer, a language can be set readily without the need for a separate device, and to provide a method for setting the language.
The projector includes a control section 2, which submits inquiries to a computer 12 and obtains the date and time set on the computer 12; a storage section 9, which associates, in advance, a time zone for each of the areas having prescribed time difference with the language of countries corresponding to the time zone and stores them; a display section 10 for displaying various kinds of information obtained by the control section 2; and a real time clock 8 for indicating the date and the time. The control section 2 compares the date and the time of the computer 12 obtained from the computer 12 with the date and time of the real time clock 8; determines the time zone corresponding to the time difference of date and time of the computer 12; and reads the language corresponding to the determined time zone from the storage and displays the language on the display section 10.
