Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver having an equalizer capable of improving the characteristics of demodulating operation under multipass fading.
SOLUTION: At the time of converging errors E1, E2 between the received signals of 1st and 2nd branches in adaptive filters of means 36, 37 and replica signals, the strength of the level of a received preceding wave or delayed wave in each branch 15 judged. The errors E1, E2 are respectively squared by means 40, 41 to obtain respective branch metrics, and when both the judged results J1, J2 of the means 36, 37 indicate strong preceding waves, a higher receiving level R1 e.g. out of the receiving levels R1, R2 of respective branches is selected, the metric is weighted by the R1 through the means 42 on the branch side of the R1 and the output metric values of the means 42, 43 are synthesized by a synthesizing means 44. A means 45 estimates a proper received signal sequence based upon the synthesized metric to obtain an equalized signal.
