Abstract:
To provide a new use of a 14-membered ring macrolide compound.
A remedy for heart disease which contains the 14-membered ring macrolide compound or its pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt as an active ingredient and a method for shrinking a focus of the heart disease which includes a process for administering the 14-membered ring macrolide compound or the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt in an effective amount are disclosed in the specification, respectively. A new use of the macrolide compound for treating the heart disease (such as cardiac infarction) is disclosed, wherein erythromycin and roxithromycin especially represent the macrolide compound.
