To provide a sensor capable facilitating the detection of the presence/absence of the breakage of a tool in which only a part of a plurality of cutting edges is broken, and a breakage detection device equipped with the sensor.
The sensor 10 for the breakage detection device detecting the presence/absence of the breakage of the cutting edges 311, 312 of the tool 30 provided with the plurality of the cutting edges 311, 312 at rotation symmetry positions to a center axis at one end, and where the cutting edges 311, 312 have shapes projecting out in the center axis direction includes: a head 12 which is a part pressed by one end of the tool 20 and supported so as to be displaced in its center axis direction to an original position that is not pressed by the tool 30 and tilted to a virtual plane surface vertical to its center axis; a spring 13 automatically returning the head 12 to an original position; and a limit switch 14 detecting a moving distance which the head 12 pressed by the tool 30 moves in the center axis direction, and outputting a detection signal indicating that the head 12 moves from the original position by a predetermined distance.
