Abstract:
To provide a sensor unit that can accurately detect edge positions in a width direction of a recording medium and prevent a reduction in efficiency in use of light, and an image forming apparatus including the same.SOLUTION: A sensor unit 30 comprises: a CIS 40 that detects edge positions of a sheet P in a sheet width direction orthogonal to a sheet conveyance direction; and a lighting unit 60 that is arranged on the opposite side of the CIS 40 with respect to a sheet conveyance path 12 and radiates light toward the CIS 40. The lighting unit 60 has an LED 62, and a light guide 64 that guides light from the LED 62 in the sheet width direction. The light guide 64 has a light incident surface 64c on which the light from the LED 62 is incident, a light emission surface 64e that emits the light incident on the light incident surface 64c, and a back surface 64f that is arranged opposite to the light emission surface 64e and formed with a plurality of concave prisms 64g arranged in the sheet width direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
