To provide a steel saddle at a cutting edge which has a simple construction and can be easily assembled and disassembled and which can increase and adjust load bearing capacity of ground.
A saddle at a cutting edge, which is mounted inside the cutting edge of a pneumatic caisson to support the load of the caisson with respect to the ground is formed from a holding material 28 and a floor base 30. The material 28 is formed from an inclined holding member 31 comprising H-section steels fixedly attached to an inclined part inside a cutting edge part 23, a vertical holding member 32 attached to the member 31, and a plurality of horizontal supporting member bodies 56 which are attached to the lower parts of the member 32 and the member 31 and are radially disposed so as to be spaced at predetermine angular intervals in the direction of 360° and each of which comprises H-section steels. And the floor base 30 is releasably disposed between the adjoining bodies 56 and formed of a supporting surface forming frame 35 comprising a plurality of H-section steels, the number of which can be adjusted in radial and circumferential directions.
