Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for storing hydrates safely while effectively preventing or controlling decomposition of the hydrates by wrapping the hydrates by using a flexible material without or low gas permeability, by pressurizing the wrapped hydrates by using a safe gas and finally by cooling them.
SOLUTION: This method is conducted by wrapping hydrates (e.g. methane hydrate) by using a flexible material (e.g. polyethylene film) with no or low permeability (e.g. by making bags or the like of the above material, putting the hydrates thereinto, and hermetically sealing them), pressurizing them by using such a safe gas as helium or argon, and cooling them in a refrigerator for storage. The decomposition of the hydrates in the wrappings is prevented or controlled by such a cooling storage. When the hydrates are transported, such refrigerators can be moved by using a vehicle of e.g. automobiles or ships.
