PURPOSE: To improve a long-time operation transaction management device for a distributed computer system and a method which executes long-time operation transactions.
CONSTITUTION: A flow controller 130 uses five processes T1 to T5 which control the processings in respective steps of a longtime operation transaction, and the number of processes which are related to the flow controller 130 and simultaneously run is kept constant independently of the number of long-time operation transactions executed at an arbitrary point in time. Each flow and step instance is assigned to execution of a specific system resource (typically, one of processors in the system) by the flow controller. Consequently, only increase of the number of processors which the flow controller can assign works to is required to extend the scale of the system for processing of a large majority of transactions.
