PURPOSE: To ensure the recording with high performance through a simple constitution of a recording circuit, by recording a mixture signal of a time compressed sound signal and a pilot signal or a mixture signal of a frequency modulated luminance signal and a low band converted chroma signal.
CONSTITUTION: A video tape 7 is wound around a rotary cylinder. A time compressed sound signal APCM and a pilot signal P are recorded by video heads 16A and 16B on an oblique track 13 having an about 30° angle of the tape 7. At the same time, a frequency modulated luminance signal YFM, a low band converted chroma signal CL, a frequency modulated sound signal AFM and the signal P are recorded. The record current is controlled by record current setting circuits 32W35. The signal APCM is generated by a processor 36. At the same time, the signals P, YFM and CL are generated by a generator 45, a processor 39 and a processor 42 respectively. As a result, it is possible to attain simultaneously the miniaturization of a tape recorder, the long-time recording and the high sound quality.
