PURPOSE: To enhance formability and prevent blocking from occurring during storage, by a method wherein a releasable layer, a pattern layer and an adhesive layer consisting mainly of a resin such as a methacrylic acid ester base polymer are sequentially formed on a heat-formed surface of a base sheet.
CONSTITUTION: A urethane base anchoring agent is uniformly applied to a non- printed surface of a polyvinyl chloride film 9 in a small thickness, and after drying, a polypropylene film 10 is laminated thereon, followed by againg. The releasable layer 11 consisting of a cellulosic resin is provided on the polyvinyl chloride surface, and after providing the pattern layer 12 by gravure printing, the adhesive layer 13 consisting of a copolymer of methyl methacrylate and ethyl methacrylate is provided thereon by gravure coating to produce the transfer foil 3. The transfer foil 3 is intermediately placed in a transferring device with the pattern layer faced to a molded article 5, is softened by heating, and is applied with a pressure, followed by reducing the pressure, whereby the foil 3 is adhered to the molded article 5. The film is then released from the article 5, thereby applying the pattern to the article 5 in a favorable manner.
