The transfer sheet has at least a release layer containing a blowing agent which is photodegraded to generated gas and a color material layer on a support. The method for forming an image on an image receiving sheet comprises a step for imagewise irradiating the release layer of the transfer sheet with a light capable of degrading the blowing agent to generate gas, a step for heating the color material layer or the color material layer and the release layer and a step for transferring the color material layer to the image receiving sheet. The method for forming an image on a ceramic material comprises a step for disposing an image transferred on the image receiving sheet on the ceramic material and a step for carrying out firing.
