Abstract:

The unit has processing devices (3a-e,5a-e) spaced by a distance (D) which is equal to a second number of repeat lengths greater than one. A feed control (14,10,18) includes a device for step-feeding the web packaging material (2) according to repeated feed cycles. Each feed cycle is defined by feed steps in which the web packaging material is advanced by a feed length equal to a number of repeat lengths which is less than the first number multiplied by the second number. An independent claim is included for a method of indexing the web packaging material.
