Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain constantly smooth rotating action of a vane as securing high seal performance between respective oil pressure chambers and to improve responsiveness of valve timing control.
SOLUTION: Opening and closing timing of an intake valve is made variable by having a timing sprocket 1 and a relatively rotationally movable cam shaft convert their relative turning movement phase by reciprocatingly rotating a vane 3 by relative supplying and discharging hydraulic pressure to and from an advance side hydraulic pressure chamber 32 and a lag angle side hydraulic pressure chamber 33 inside a housing 6. Dry film coats 50, 51 are formed on the front end surface 3a of the vane 3 and the outer circumferential surface of respective blades 28 respectively sliding along the inner circumferential surface 6a of the housing 6 and that of a front cover 7 and these dry film coats 50, 51 cause to reduce sliding friction resistance and to seal between the oil pressure chambers 32, 33.
