Title:
VARIABLE LENGTH DATA TRANSMITTER/RECEIVER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3645027
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable length data transmitter/receiver capable of effectively utilizing redundancy at the time of transmitting variable length data.
SOLUTION: Variable length data are encoded to (n, k) block codes and an error is corrected. The transmitting side is provided with a division means 104 for dividing inputted variable length data into plural blocks so that the data length of a block including highly important data is smaller than (k) when the data length of the inputted variable length data is not equal to a multiple of (k) and an error correction encoding means 106 for inserting dummy bits for compensating the lack of data when the data length of the divided block data is less than (k), encoding the block data, deleting the dummy bits after the encoding, and outputting a block signal error corrected code. The receiving side is provided with a corresponding division means 112 and an error correction means 114. Thus redundancy is distributed to necessary parts and the transmission reliability of an important part of input data is improved.
