Abstract:

An acceleration suppression device for vehicles and an acceleration suppression method for vehicles, whereby: an overall level of certainty indicating the overall level of certainty, for both parking slot certainty indicating the level of certainty that a parking slot exists in the direction that a vehicle is progressing and parking slot entry certainty indicating the level of certainty of the vehicle entering the parking slot, is calculated on the basis of the parking slot certainty and the parking slot entry certainty. If the overall level of certainty is low, the device suppresses to a low level, compared to when there is a high overall level of certainty, vehicle acceleration that is controlled in accordance with the amount of operation of an acceleration pedal operated by a driver to instruct drive force. Furthermore, the device suppresses the acceleration of the vehicle to a lower level the higher the vehicle speed.
