Abstract:

Provided is a brake disc capable of suppressing brake pad wear, improving braking performance and suppressing heat shrinkage between lightening holes. The brake disc (1) for a motorcycle has multiple weight-reducing lightening holes (12) formed in a sliding member (11) that comes into contact with a brake pad (2), wherein multiple grooves (13) are formed in at least one sliding surface (11a) of the sliding member (11) with a prescribed interval therebetween in the circumferential direction so that the grooves (13) pass through adjacent lightening holes (12). The grooves (13) are formed so as to have a linear or curved shape along the inner peripheral section and the outer peripheral section of the sliding member (11), are slanted so that the inner peripheral end of a groove (13) is forward of the outer peripheral end of the groove in the direction of rotation of the brake disc (1), and are configured so that at least the end of the groove (13) on the outer peripheral side is open.
