The present invention provides: a cleaning device which is highly reliable and makes it possible to expect sufficient cleaning effect; and an image capturing unit equipped with the cleaning device. The present invention provides a cleaning device for an image capturing unit (100) provided with: a casing (1) for holding an image capturing unit (5); a protective cover (2) arranged in the field of view of the image capturing unit (5); a vibrating unit (12) for vibrating the protective cover (2); and a cleaning nozzle (3) for discharging a cleaning liquid so that the cleaning liquid reaches the surface of the protective cover (2) on the opposite side to the side where the image capturing unit (5) is disposed. The vibrating unit (12) vibrates the protective cover (2) so that a position where the displacement amount of the protective cover (2) becomes larger than at a position on the surface of the protective cover (2) reached by the discharged cleaning liquid occurs on the surface of the protective cover (2).
