Abstract:
Provided is a composition that has good dispersibility for ultraviolet scattering particles and that is not readily caked. The present invention relates to a composition, in particular a cosmetic composition, in which ultraviolet scattering particles are dispersed in a mixture of an oil medium and polyhydroxystearic acid, said composition satisfying the conditions (I)-(III). Condition (I): In the composition, the oil medium contains a polar oil and a silicone oil or contains a polar oil, a hydrocarbon oil, and a silicone oil; the silicone oil accounts for at least 55 parts by mass of the total 100 parts by mass of the oil medium; and the ultraviolet scattering particles account for at least 10 parts by mass of the total 100 parts by mass of the oil medium. Condition (II): If calculated after removing the volatile components of the oil medium, the silicone oil after the volatile components are removed accounts for at most 40 parts by mass of the total 100 parts by mass of the oil medium after the volatile components are removed. Condition (III): The mass ratio of polyhydroxystearic acid to the ultraviolet scattering particles (mass of polyhydroxystearic acid / mass of ultraviolet scattering particles) is 0.02 or higher.
