Abstract:
A cubic boron nitride sintered body comprising cubic boron nitride particles and a binding material, wherein the percentage content of the cubic boron nitride particles in the cubic boron nitride sintered body is 30-80 vol.%, the binding material includes at least one selected from a second group consisting of an elemental substance of one element selected from a first group consisting of aluminum, silicon, iron, cobalt, nickel, group-4 elements, group-5 elements, and group-6 elements of the periodic table, and alloys and intermetallic compounds formed of two or more elements selected from the first group, or includes at least one selected from a fourth group consisting of compounds each formed of one element selected from the first group and at least one element selected from a third group consisting of nitrogen, carbon, boron, and oxygen, and solid solutions of the compounds, wherein the percentage content of voids in the cubic boron nitride sintered body is 0.001-0.20 vol.%.
