The present application relates to the technical field of terminals, and provides a device control method and a terminal device. The method comprises: after a destination screen mirroring device displays a screen mirroring window of a source screen mirroring device, in response to a touch sliding operation of a user sliding from a position outside the screen mirroring window to a position inside the screen mirroring window, generate a touch sliding event; if a starting touch point of the touch sliding operation is located in a target area, convert the touch sliding event into an edge sliding event of the source screen mirroring device, and then send the edge sliding event to the source screen mirroring device, wherein the target area is an area formed by extending the edge of the screen mirroring window outward for a preset distance; and upon receiving the edge sliding event, the source screen mirroring device updates a screen display content according to the edge sliding event. The technical solution provided by the present application can improve the convenience of performing a reverse control operation using a full-screen gesture under a screen mirroring scenario, thereby improving user experience.
