Abstract:
A foil bearing (10) that is equipped with a foil (12) on which a protective film (16) is formed, and a foil holder (11) supporting the foil (12), and that supports a shaft (13) with a fluid film formed in a bearing space between the protective film (16) and the shaft (13), said foil bearing (10) having on the sliding-surface side of the foil (12) a chemical conversion film (15) having an uneven surface (15a) formed by a chemical conversion process, and the protective film (16), which is provided on top of the uneven surface (15a).
