Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a grinding system in which the main body of a glass plate can be firmly fixed and which, when the peripheral edges of the main body of the glass plate are ground by pressing the lateral surface (cylindrical portion) of the rotating grinding wheel of a grinder against the peripheral edges, can grind the peripheral edges of the main body of the glass plate while preventing the main body from sliding horizontally (shifting horizontally). [Solution] A grinding system 10a includes a magnet located directly below the lower surface of the main body of a glass plate placed over a grinding table while being held by table suction cups 130 and a magnetic weighting material located on the upper surface side of the main body of the glass plate and to be attracted by the magnet. The grinding system 10a has: a first fixation means, in which before initiation of grinding the peripheral edges of the main body of the glass plate, the table suction cups 130 come into contact with the lower surface of the main body of the glass plate to hold the lower surface of the main body by suction; and a second fixation means, in which before initiation of grinding the peripheral edges of the main body of the glass plate, the main body is held between the magnet located directly below the lower surface of the main body and the magnetic weighting material attracted by the magnet while being in contact with the upper surface of the main body.
