The present technology relates to an information processing device and an information processing method which can increase a feeling of satisfaction of a chef by presenting a selection result of a food material and the reason why the food material is selected when proposing the food material by means of food pairing. The information processing device makes, into data, a food material used in a recipe and other food materials targeted for being matched with the food material used in the recipe, selects a food material matching the food material used in the recipe from among the other materials, and generates a reason to select the food material as being matched with the food material used in the recipe. The present technology can be applied to a system that performs the proposal for the food material by means of the food pairing.
