Abstract:
This input device is provided with a knob having a lateral surface portion, multiple sensor electrodes arranged on the lateral surface portion of the knob, and a sensor electrode control unit. The sensor electrode control unit is connected to the multiple sensor electrodes and detects changes in electrostatic capacity generated in the multiple sensor electrodes due to two or more operation objects, which touch or come near to the outer periphery of the knob lateral surface portion, moving in the circumferential direction along the outer periphery of the knob lateral surface portion. The sensor electrode control unit sends a first signal which corresponds to the amount and direction of the greatest amount that any of the two or more operation objects moves in the circumferential direction along the outer periphery of the knob lateral surface portion.
