Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing p-xylene, the method comprising: a preparation step for preparing, as a product produced by fluid catalytic cracking of heavy oil fractions, a C4 fraction containing at least isobutene; a dimerization step for bringing a first raw material containing the isobutene into contact with a dimerization catalyst to produce a C8 component containing a dimer of isobutene; and a cyclization step for bringing a second raw material containing the C8 component into contact with a dehydrogenation catalyst to produce p-xylene by cyclodehydrogenation of the C8 component.
