Abstract:
The present invention provides a method which is for manufacturing an optical film and which can improve the quality of the optical film, such as the axial accuracy of the optical axis and the surface quality, and ensure high productivity. This method for manufacturing an optical film includes: a casting step for forming a cast film by discharging a dope containing a solvent and a resin from a casting die, casting on a moving support, and drying the cast dope; a peeling step for peeling off the cast film from the support; and a winding step for winding the peeled cast film, wherein the infrared absorption spectrum of the cast film is measured from the casting step to the winding step, and when the peak absorbance of the solvent in the infrared absorption spectrum is defined as Abs1 and the peak absorbance of the resin in the infrared absorption spectrum is defined as Abs2, the residual solvent amount of the cast film is calculated from expression (1).
