Abstract:

A personal authentication device having an imaging section for taking an image of an object and identifying, based on a biological pattern of the object included in the taken image, an individual corresponding to the object. The imaging section includes an imaging surface constructed from pixel blocks. The personal authentication device further has a signal processing section for removing high-frequency components from the taken image and has a gain adjustment section for setting a pixel gain for each pixel block so that the pixel value of the taken image from which the high-frequency components are removed is near a predetermined value.
