Abstract:
A planar antenna device (1A) is provided with a dielectric (10), an antenna layer (20) provided on one major surface (10a) of the dielectric (10), and a ground layer (30) provided on another major surface (10b) of the dielectric (10) and facing the antenna layer (20). In the planar antenna device (1A), a linearly polarized radio wave is radiated from the antenna layer (20), whereby an electric field is generated in a first direction (D1) along the other major surface (10b). The ground layer (30) includes a latticed ground electrode portion (31), and a plurality of rectangular opening portions (32) positioned in regions other than the ground electrode portion (31). Each of the plurality of opening portions (32) includes two first opening sides (a1) parallel to the first direction (D1), and two second opening sides (a2) perpendicular to the first direction (D1). The length of the first opening sides (a1) is greater than the length of the second opening sides (a2).
