Abstract:
The present invention provides a PVA having excellent heat resistance and pressure resistance. This polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer is obtained through saponification of: a homopolymer formed of a vinylester monomer; a copolymer of a vinylester monomer and a monofunctional monomer other than a vinylester; a copolymer of a vinylester monomer and a polyfunctional monomer; or a copolymer of a vinylester monomer, and a polyfunctional monomer and a monofunctional monomer other than a vinylester. When an aqueous solution of the polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer is filtered using a 100-mesh (opening: 0.154 mm) filter, the concentration thereof is adjusted to 10.0 mass%, the storage modulus G' (20°C) in the range of an angular frequency of 1.0-10.0 rad/s is measured in the aqueous solution, and the results are plotted in logarithmic scales for both axes; the inclination in the plot is 1.2 or less.
