Abstract:
Provided is an improved power storage system with which the charging voltage of a lead-acid battery can be increased while maintaining the rated voltage of an electrical load, thereby extending the service life of the lead-acid battery. This system is equipped with an output-type battery, which discharges current to an electrical load and is charged with current from a generator, and a lead-acid battery, which discharges current to this output-type battery and is charged with current from the output-type battery. The rated current of the output-type battery is set so as to be greater than the rated current of the lead-acid battery, and the lead-acid battery is connected in series to the output-type battery through a direct-current voltage converter. When the lead-acid battery is being charged, the allotted voltage of the direct-current voltage converter is reduced by the output-type battery connected in series to the direct-current voltage converter, thereby enabling the power of the direct-current voltage converter to be controlled. In addition, the service life of the lead-acid battery can be extended by increasing the charging voltage of the lead-acid battery while maintaining the rated voltage of the electrical load.
