Abstract:
A process for producing an aromatic alcohol or a heterocyclic aromatic alcohol, characterized by comprising reacting an aromatic amine or a heterocyclic aromatic amine each having at least one group -CHR1NR2R3 (wherein R1, R2 and R3 independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, or a benzyl group) on an aromatic ring or a heterocyclic aromatic ring as a substituent with an alcohol in the presence of a basic catalyst.
