Abstract:
Provided are: a rack guide that can stably support a rack bar over a long period of time while preventing the generation of striking sounds; and a gear mechanism using the same. This rack guide (30) slidably supports a rack bar (20) on which is formed a rack gear (21) meshing with a pinion gear (11), and the rack guide guides the rack bar (20) that is moving in accordance with the rotation of the pinion gear (11), in an axis O2 direction of the rack guide. The rack guide (30) comprises at least three projections (33a-33c) that protrude from an outer circumferential surface (314) along an axis O3 direction of the rack guide and make sliding contact with an inner wall surface (78) of a housing (70). These projections (33a-33c) are disposed at positions which are asymmetrical with respect to the axis O3 of the rack guide (30).
