A refrigerating and freezing device, and a control method therefor. The refrigerating and freezing device comprises a refrigerating system and a heating device for circulating a refrigerant. The refrigerating system comprises a compressor and an evaporator, the heating device is used for heating the evaporator, and the control method comprises: obtaining a defrosting start signal of the refrigerating and freezing device for the evaporator; starting the heating device; and starting the refrigerating system, so that the refrigerant flowing out of the compressor flows through the evaporator to heat the evaporator by using the heat released by the refrigerant. Compared with the technical solution of using only a heating device to heat an evaporator, the defrosting control method provided by the present invention has a better defrosting effect, can uniformly and thoroughly achieve defrosting of the evaporator, and is beneficial to improve the defrosting rate and shorten the defrosting period.
