Abstract:
The invention relates to a sealed and thermally insulating tank for the storage of liquefied gas, wherein the tank comprises a first tank wall and a second tank wall, said first tank wall and second tank wall each being supported by a bearing structure and comprising a secondary thermally insulating barrier (2), a secondary sealing membrane (3), a primary thermally insulating barrier (4) and a primary sealing membrane (5), wherein said tank comprises at least two corner structures (1) positioned in the corner region and separated from one another by an inter-panel gap (8), each corner structure (1) comprising a secondary corner assembly (6) and each corner structure (1) having a plurality of primary corner assemblies (12) secured to said secondary corner assembly (6). The tank comprises a primary corner junction assembly (13) secured across the two secondary corner assemblies (6) of the two corner structures (1), which are juxtaposed so as to be positioned above said inter-panel gap, and said primary corner junction assembly (13) demonstrates a different flexural behaviour to that of the primary corner assemblies (12) of the corner structures (1).
