Abstract:
This secondary battery comprises: a container filled with an electrolytic solution; an electrically-insulating and ion-conductive separator that partitions an internal space of the container into a first electrode chamber and a second electrode chamber; a first electrode configured of a metal substrate and accommodated in the first electrode chamber; and a second electrode accommodated in the second electrode chamber and containing metal atoms that migrate to the first electrode upon ionization, wherein the metal substrate has, on outer surface thereof, a fine uneven structure composed of a plurality of protrusions made of metal particles and having a maximum width of 0.5-30.0 μm (inclusive), the metal atoms precipitating on the surface of the protrusions during charging.
