Abstract:
A self-propelled vacuum cleaner (100) includes a body that has, on the left and right, a pair of wheels and that moves on a floor, a driving unit (130) that moves or turns the body, a step detecting unit (a collision sensor (119), an obstacle sensor (173), a range sensor (174), and a camera (175)) for detecting a step, and a control unit (150) for controlling a moving unit on the basis of detection results obtained by the step detecting unit. When there is a step in front of only one of the pair of wheels, the control unit (150) selects either a first course, in which the body moves such that the step exists in front of each of the pair of wheels, or a second course, in which the step does not exist in front of the pair of wheels, and controls the driving unit (130) so as to move the body accordingly. This configuration provides a self-propelled vacuum cleaner (100) with which the reliability of floor cleaning can be improved.
