Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a highly safe surgical instrument that makes it possible for a surgeon to freely move a head section by simple manual operation and in which the number of components is reduced. This surgical instrument comprises a tool head in a distal section and a first operation section and a second operation section in a proximal section, the tool head comprises a movable section and a base section, and the surgical instrument additionally comprises a first connection structure and a second connection structure. The first connection structure includes a first conversion mechanism, a first shaft, a universal joint provided to the distal end of the first shaft, a second conversion mechanism, and a crank that is provided to the distal end of the second conversion mechanism and connected with the proximal end of the movable section. The second connection structure includes a cylindrical shaft having a pinion formed on the distal section thereof, and a rack base section having provided to the upper surface thereof a rack that meshes with the pinion and is formed in an approximately semicircular shape. The intersection of the axes of the two pivots of the universal joint is on the axis of rotation of the rack.
