Title:
SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1997/030258
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention relates to a suspension assembly for a balcony glass cover (1) or a like transferable element, said assembly comprising a guide rail above the element (1), inside which is provided a set of element (1) supporting/transfer wheels movable lengthwise of the guide rail and supporting substantially the weight of the element (1), and guide means (21, 27, 30) below the element. The guide means below according to the invention comprise a guide rail (21), including a longer arm (23) and a shorter arm (22), both extending upwards, between which arms is fitted a guiding wheel (27) providing a lateral support for the bottom portion of the element (1). The guiding wheel (27) is provided with a through hole (31), through which extends an axle (25) mounted on the bottom edge of the element (1), said axle being capable of moving in its longitudinal direction within the hole (31), thus eliminating the dimensional deformations caused in the element (1) and its suspension assembly by temperature fluctuations and other factors. The guiding wheel consists of an upper wheel portion (27), which bears by its edge against the inner side fo the longer arm (23) of the guide rail (21) and the bottom surface of said wheel extends beyond the outer side of the shorter arm and is supported by the top edge of the shorter arm, and a lower wheel portion (30), which bears by its edge against the inner side of the shorter arm (22).

Description:
Suspension assembly

The present invention relates to a suspension assembly for a balcony glass cover or a like transferable element, said assembly comprising a guide rail above the element, inside which is provided a set of element supporting/transfer wheels movable lengthwise of the guide rail and supporting substantially the weight of the element, and guide means below the element.

An object of the present invention is to provide an impro¬ ved bottom suspension structure in a suspension assembly for a balcony glass cover or a like transferable element, said structure facilitating in a relatively simple and operationally reliable fashion the elimination of length differences produced by temperature or other factors. In order to achieve this object, an assembly of the invention is characterized by what is set forth in the characterizing clause of claim 1.

The invention will now be described with reference made to the only figure of the accompanying drawing, which shows one embodiment of the invention in cross-section.

The guide means below an element 1 comprise a guide rail 21, including a longer arm 23 and a shorter arm 22, both extending upwards, between which arms is fitted a guiding wheel 27 providing a lateral support for the bottom portion of the element 1. The guiding wheel consists of an upper wheel portion 27, which bears by its edge against the inner side of the longer arm 23 of the guide rail 21 and the bottom surface of said wheel extends beyond the outer side of the shorter arm and is supported by the top edge of the shorter arm, and a lower wheel portion 30, which bears by its edge against the inner side of the shorter arm 22. In the depicted embodiment, the inner sides of said arms 23 and 22 are provided with abutments

29, 32, against which the wheel portions 27, 30 bear, respectively. The guiding wheel 27 is provided with a through hole 31 with a vertical axle 25, mounted on the bottom edge of the element 1, extending therethrough. The axle 25 is capable of moving in its longitudinal direction within the hole 31 , thus eliminating the dimensional deformations caused in the element 1 and its suspension system by temperature fluctuations and other factors . In the depicted embodiment, the axle 25 is mounted on the bottom edge of the element 1 by means of nuts 26 and the bottom end of the axle is provided with an abutment member 28, which prevents the axle from moving upwards out of the hole 31. In the depicted embodiment, the upper wheel portion 27 and the lower wheel portion 30 provide an integral assembly. The upper wheel portion 27 and the lower wheel portion 30 can also be journalled to be rotatable relative to each other for enabling the rotation thereof independently of each other. The inner side of the longer arm 23 is provided with a lip 24 lengthwise of the guide rail and above the upper wheel portion 27, said lip preventing the accidental lifting of the wheel 27, 30 out of the guide rail 21. The lip 24 is preferably provided with openings at definite points along its length for allowing removal of the wheel 27, 30 out of the guide rail 21 at said openings.

In addition, the wheel portion 27 functions as a limiter for the bottom edge of an element for defining an appropriate point, whereat the element 1 can be turned aside around its vertical swivel axle by lifting the wheel portions 27, 28 included in one of the two bottom corners of an element out of the guide rail at the above- mentioned openings.
