Abstract:
The present invention provides: a vinyl alcohol-vinyl acetate copolymer which exhibits excellent solubility, and with which a film exhibiting high flexibility, mechanical strength, and adhesiveness can be prepared; and a method for producing the vinyl alcohol-vinyl acetate copolymer. This vinyl alcohol-vinyl acetate copolymer is provided with units comprising a vinyl alcohol and units comprising vinyl acetate, and has a triad unit chain ratio TOO obtained using formula (1) of 7.5 or lower. In formula (1), the VOH content refers to the content of the units comprising the vinyl alcohol, the Vac content refers to the content of the units comprising the vinyl acetate, the OOO content ratio refers to the content ratio of OOO triad chains, and the AOO content ratio refers to the content ratio of AOO triad chains.
