Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which: in a cartridge having a mechanism that forms an optical path in a space inside a toner storage container to detect the amount of toner inside the toner storage container, toner attached to a light incident surface and a light emission surface inside the container is generally removed by rubbing the toner with a cleaning sheet; and as the life of the cartridge is extended, improvement in performance to clean the light incident surface and light emission surface is demanded.SOLUTION: A convex-shape step is provided upstream in a rubbing direction of a light incident surface and a light emission surface, and a cleaning sheet is made to rub the step to remove a toner attached to a surface of the cleaning sheet in advance. The cleaning sheet is bent at the step, and an impact at the release of bending is utilized to efficiently clean the light incident surface and light emission surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
