To provide a media reproducing device that a display form such as display color, size or position of a sub-picture is changed by an indication from a user by receiving the setting of a display state of sub-picture data and executing control so that sub-picture data are displayed in the set display form.

A sub-picture display setting part 14 receives the setting of the display form such as display color or size of the sub-picture in the case of reproduction by designation from the user. The part 14 sets the set display form such as the set sub-picture display color or the size in a sub-picture change part 25 in the video reproducing part 23 of a stream restoring part 12. The part 25 changes the display form such as color, size, position or scroll speed of sub-picture data which is decided by display control intended by a contents provider in accordance with the sub-picture display form which is given from the sub-picture display setting part 14.
