To provide a display driving device which can improve tone reproduction power without raising the scanning speed by using a subfield driving system.
The driving device of the display includes an electro-optical material, a plurality of pixels, a switching element provided for each pixel, and a scan line and a data line connected to each switching element, and drives the display by changing transmittance of the electro-optical material. A driving control means divides one field into two or more subfields on the time axis, applies a binary data signal of on/off voltages matching the tone to be displayed to the pixels in each subfield, and controls a period in which the data signal is supplied to a pixel electrode in at least one subfield period. Thereby it can reduce a minimum tone control unit, and make finer tone control possible. Accordingly, it can improve the tone reproduction power without raising a scanning speed.
