To provide a method for making a color filter having excellent water resistance and color characteristic in good productivity, ink for making the filter and the color filter of high quality at a low cost.
This ink contains colorant having a carboxylic group or a sulfonic acid group, water, a water-soluble organic solvent and a curable resin, wherein the ink contains red-violet dye of general formula I, orange dye of general formula II and red dye of general formula III as the colorant, and contains a water-soluble polymeric compound having repeating units of polyoxyethylene ester of (metha)acrylic acid and (metha)acrylic acid (or its salt) as the curable resin, and acid value of the polymeric compound is between 140 and 170 mgKOH/g. The method for making the color filter comprises a process of forming colored pixel by curing the ink applied on a substrate, and the color filter comprises the colored pixel made of the cured ink.
