The optical probe type observation device 1 is provided with a high magnification image processing means 28 connected to a high magnification image pickup means for performing the image processing of an intracelom face X whose image is picked up by a high magnification, a high magnification display means 30 for displaying the magnified image of the intracelom face X whose image is picked up, and a mouse (indication means) 31 for specifying a specified position or region in the image of the intracelom face X displayed at the high magnification display means 30. The high magnification image processing means 28 is provided with an arithmetic part 42 for calculating the N/C of the cell nucleus and cytoplasm of cells included in the image on the basis of the picked-up image of the intracelom face X.
