Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect, with good efficiency, a signal charge which has been stored in a load capacitance element by a method wherein the electric charge of light according to a quantity of light incident on a photodetector is stored and the stored signal charge is demodulated by an inverting amplifier and a charge detection circuit which is provided with a first capacitor.
CONSTITUTION: An electric charge, according to the signal voltage of a pixel MOS transistor 1, which has been stored in a load capacitance element 24 is made to flow to a horizontal signal line 10. In addition, a charge detection circuit 35 which is provided with an operational amplifier 31, with a detection capacitance element 32 and with a reset switch 33 is connected to the output terminal of the horizontal signal line 10. Then, the signal charge is demodulated to a signal voltage by means of the high-speed charge detection circuit 35. Thereby, it is possible to prevent a spike-shaped pulse noise, and it is possible to increase an output signal amount remarkably. In addition, since there exists no active element other than the pixel MOS transistor 1 and the charge detection circuit 35, a solid pattern noise is hard to generate.
